04. März WHO IS THE UOKG?
The Union of Victims’ Associations of Communist Tyranny e.V. (UOKG) is the umbrella organization for more than thirty associations and initiatives of those persecuted by communism in East and West Germany. It was founded in 1991 and is based in Berlin. We represent the interests of the victims and their associations to political decision-makers. Our advisory team helps those affected and campaigns for their recognition and compensation under the rule of law.
Memorials and commemorative events, as well as academic research and exhibitions, keep the memory of the suffering of the victims of the SED dictatorship alive.
The UOKG is supported by the BKM (Minister of State for Culture and the Media), the Federal Foundation for the Study of the Communist Dictatorship in East Germany, and the Berlin Commissioner for the Study of the SED Dictatorship.
